About

Hello, I'm Atlas

It's nice to meet you!

I'm a curious and driven college student currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Physics and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). I am also a UMKC Trustees' Scholar!

As an aspiring researcher, I'm thrilled by the concept of exploring the unknown, and in the future I hope to contribute to cutting edge research in theoretical astrophysics, quantum computing, or climate and weather science. My academic pursuits are fueled by a deep curiosity and a drive to challenge the limits of what we know.

When I'm not immersed in my studies, you can find me working on personal projects, hanging out with my friends, or getting lost in a good book.

Although my journey is just beginning, I’m eager to connect with others who share a passion for science and the excitement of discovery. If you’re interested in discussing the latest innovations in STEM field or simply want to connect over shared interests, I’d be delighted to hear from you!

Employment

Student Research Assistant

Missouri Institute for Defense and Energy (MIDE), UMKC

September 2025 - Present

As a Student Research Assistant at the Missouri Institute for Defense and Energy (MIDE), I contribute to research at the intersection of antenna engineering and machine learning. My current work focuses on building simulations from existing antenna models, automating data generation, and preparing datasets for AI training. Through this work, I am gaining hands-on experience in simulation, automation, and data-driven AI research, furthering my skills in both physics and computer science.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and running antenna array simulations in CST Studio Suite to generate data for signal beamforming research
  • Implementing data cleaning, normalization, and labeling to build structured datasets for training AI/ML models
  • Collaborating with the research team and supervisor to ensure the data pipeline is scalable, reproducible, and aligns with the project goals
  • Training a conditional generative AI model for 1D-signal beam generation

Biomedical Technology Intern

Liberty Hospital

January 2023 - May 2023

As a biomedical technology intern, I gained valuable, hands-on experience in the Biomedical Sciences department of a local hospital. The department is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and testing all the medical devices in the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Performing scheduled preventative maintenance on devices
  • Troubleshooting and repairing broken patient care equipment
  • Managing assets in the hospital's database system
